This Privacy Policy explains how ("Abhyaas", "we", "us", "our"), the operator of the Abhyaas platform at abhyaas.app and its associated mobile applications (together, the "Service"), collects, uses, shares, and protects personal data. We are committed to protecting the privacy of the families who use Abhyaas, and in particular the children whose academic progress is tracked through it.
By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to this Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
Abhyaas is a family product with three roles: the Parent (the account holder who registers the family), the Student (a child added by the parent), and platform administration. The parent is the primary account holder and is responsible for the family account. Students do not register themselves; they are added by a parent.
Information you provide as a Parent: your name, mobile number, email address, and the role label you select (mother or father). When you add a second parent, their mobile number.
Information you provide about your Child (Student): the student's name, date of birth, board (CBSE, GSEB, ICSE), grade, medium, and the subjects and chapters you confirm during setup. As you use the Service, academic information including classwork and homework logs, quality ratings (such as handwriting, spelling, completion), revision activity, habit tracking, points, rewards, practice-test and exam results, and study-session logs.
Payment information: subscription and billing are processed by our payment partner, Razorpay. We do not store your full card or bank details on our servers; Razorpay processes payment information under its own privacy policy. We retain records of your subscription status, plan, transaction identifiers, and billing history.
AI interaction data: when a permitted user uses the AI study partner or AI-generated practice features, the questions, prompts, and related context are processed to generate responses. See Section 6 for the third-party AI provider involved.
Usage and device data: log data, device and browser type, IP address, and analytics events about how the Service is used, collected through cookies and similar technologies (see Section 9).
Communications: messages you send us (for example, via the contact form or support email) and your notification preferences.
We use personal data to: create and operate family and student accounts; load board- and grade-specific curriculum; provide daily tracking, spaced revision, habits, points, rewards, practice tests, exams, and the AI study partner; generate parent dashboards, analytics, and weekly digests; process subscriptions and payments; send transactional and service notifications (push, email, WhatsApp) according to your preferences; provide customer support; maintain security and prevent abuse; comply with legal obligations; and improve the Service.
We do not sell personal data. We do not use children's data for advertising, behavioural monitoring beyond what is necessary to provide the Service, or targeted advertising.
Every student on Abhyaas is a minor. We rely on the parent or legal guardian who creates the family account to provide consent for the processing of their child's personal data, and to create and manage the student's profile. By adding a child, you confirm that you are the parent or legal guardian and that you consent to our processing of that child's personal data as described in this Policy.
We process children's data only to provide the Service to the family, and in a manner intended to be consistent with the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and applicable rules. We do not knowingly permit children to register independently, and we do not direct advertising at children. If you believe a child's data has been provided without proper parental consent, contact us using the details in Section 12 and we will address it.
We process personal data on the basis of the consent you provide (including parental consent for children's data), the performance of our contract with you (providing the subscribed Service), and our compliance with legal obligations. You may withdraw consent at any time as described in Section 8; withdrawal does not affect processing carried out before withdrawal.
We share personal data only as needed to run the Service, with service providers acting on our instructions:
We may also disclose data where required by law, to enforce our terms, to protect rights and safety, or in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets (in which case we will notify you).
Some of our service providers process data on servers located outside India. Where this happens, we take steps intended to ensure your data continues to be protected consistent with applicable law.
Subject to applicable law, you may request to access, correct, or erase personal data; withdraw consent; and raise a grievance. For children's data, these rights are exercised by the parent or guardian. To make a request, contact us using Section 12. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.
You can also manage much of your data directly in the Service — editing student profiles and curriculum, adjusting notification preferences, and cancelling your subscription.
We use cookies and similar technologies for essential functionality and to understand usage through Google Analytics (GA4). Analytics data helps us improve the Service. You can control cookies through your browser settings; disabling some cookies may affect functionality.
We retain personal data for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the Service, and thereafter as required for legal, accounting, or legitimate business purposes. When data is no longer needed, we delete or anonymise it. You may request deletion of your account and associated data as described above.
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal data, including encrypted authentication and access controls. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. If a data breach affecting your personal data occurs, we will act in accordance with applicable law.
If you have questions, requests, or grievances about this Policy or your personal data, contact:
Dhruvit Patel
Email: hello@abhyaas.app
We will acknowledge and address grievances within the timelines required by applicable law.
We may update this Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version with a new "Last updated" date and, where appropriate, notify you. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated Policy.
